Back to School make-up look

By Hanny Kee

So, ladies, are you ready for a fresh semester?

Have you had your wardrobe planned out?

What about that signature makeup look of the year?

Ah, don’t have one? Don’t worry! Here’s one that suits most occasions, from going to classes to meeting lecturers and even attending various functions on campus.

Also, since we’re all based in Bandar Sunway, I used items that can be found in Sunway Pyramid – you can save on transport costs to by that FABULOUS pair of shoes you saw in Bukit Bintang in the long run.

Back to School 1-6

Step 1: Apply a light, shimmery eye shadow about 3 shades lighter than your natural skin tone all over your eyelid, making sure that you do not go over the hollows of your eyes (this area is also known as the crease of the eye).

Step 2: Blend a matte brown shade that is about 3 shades darker than your natural skin tone to the outer half of your eyelid.

Step 3: Using a thin brush, press a black eye shadow onto your crease, tapering the edge at the outer corner of the eye – thus making the world-famous cat-eye shape. This method will not only elongate your eye, it will also give it a gentle lift due to the angle of the tapered edge, making you look more awake.

Step 4: Line the fleshy part below your upper lash line with a black eyeliner pencil (this technique is also called tightlining). After that, line the lower inner rim of your eyes with cream or nude colored eyeliner. Finally,  press a deep green-hued eye shadow directly onto your lower lashline.

(Note: This step will ensure that your eyes look wider, because it visually extends the distance between your upper and lower lash lines. Also, the deep green will provide a pop of color that adds interest to the look – besides, it is on trend, because the Pantone Color of the Year 2013 is emerald!)

Step 5: Define your eyebrows with an eye shadow that suits your hair color and apply mascara to your lashes; two coats should do the trick.

Step 6: For long-lasting, but subtle color, rub your favorite lipstick onto your lips with a clean finger, which will make the lipstick appear as a stain of color on the lips. Finish off the look with a peach-colored blush and you’re done!

There you have it, a multi-purpose look done in only 6 steps! It’s easy, effortless and the best part is that this look takes less time to do with practice so you can sneak in that extra 5 minutes in the morning.

Have fun and good luck with the upcoming semester!
