MONASH BALL UPDATES!
As most of you are most likely already aware, based on the announcement on the activities and MUSA official Instagram page, the annual Monash Ball of 2023 has been officially canceled due to low sign up rates, budget restraints, untimely date of the event as well as the distance from the venue itself. The exorbitant amount of RM165 for Monash students has caused many to feel hesitant to attend the event. The date of December 16th also clashed with several of students’ personal schedules, especially those who are currently doing internships as well as the fact that most of the international student community have gone back home for their semester break. Finally, many students felt as if the venue was too far and seeing as transportation options were not provided that it would be much more of a hassle to get to the venue, especially in large groups.
ELECTION COMMISSION UPDATE
The tribunal has come to a decision regarding General Secretary candidate Gido, ruling that his warning letters be rescinded. Therefore, the candidate will be allowed to re-campaign for his position, with the tentative timeline being as follows:
- 30/11/2023: Notice of Elections
- 4-8/12/2023: Election Period
- 9/12/2023: Release of results
CONCLUSION
MSC#9.2 was not as dramatic as expected, fortunately enough! Things were concluded in a civil manner and although the cancellation of Monash Ball will definitely be disappointing for most of the student community, we hope that 2024 will be able to make up for it! Now do excuse me while I conduct another scan through LinkedIn for jobs at an overly priced cafe that serves a RM12 hojicha latte which I ordered to make myself feel better.
