Have you prepared your finest silk and gold charms? Because the Monash Ball is coming your way!

Anyway, who am I if not fashionably late? Due to heavy rain, traffic, and my time-blindness, I arrived an hour after the designated start time of 6:30 PM.

But a queen is never late, everyone else is simply early! By Godās grace, the ball was fortunately delayed slightly due to unforeseen circumstances. Situated in the ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental in the bustling heart of Kuala Lumpur, this prom was like no other! The Activities Department truly outdid themselves, with Greek-style pillars adorning the stage and a golden-themed photo booth. If you missed it, the theme was Greek Mythology.

I embraced the theme in a steel-blue, body-hugging dress reminiscent of Poseidonās hues, complete with a corset top embroidered with gems and a long, silky tail. While the dress was stunning, the tail turned out to be a hazard. I tripped over it multiple times, and others couldnāt resist stepping on it! Anyway, it was refreshing to see my fellow Monashians channeling Greek gods and goddesses, especially after weeks of seeing each other in pajamas and fur blankets all over The Hive.
Back in the ballroom, when my friends and I finally stepped into the venue, it was surprisingly empty. Turns out, everyone was lining up for the unlimited five-star buffet featuring appetizers, main courses, and desserts. We quickly grabbed seats and joined the queue, because who wants to miss free food? I filled my plate to the brim with everything I could find.

For appetizers, there were sushi rolls, salads, and potato leek soup served with an assortment of bread. The main course was a feast: chicken, lamb, beef, and even vegetarian options. Of course, I overstuffed my plate, I didnāt want to miss a single performance!

As previously mentioned, this yearās Monash Ball was truly incomparable. The ambitious Activities Chairpersons brilliantly combined the social event of the year with a showcase of talent through Monash Got Talent. From singing duos to a mesmerizing magic show, the lineup was incredible! The standout performance, however, was a rock bandās rendition of Canāt Take My Eyes Off You by Frankie Valli. As one of the performers sang, āThis night is flawless!ā

As the evening progressed, the fashion show took center stage. My eyes glimmered as the participants cat-walked in their stunning attire. Flowing gowns, floral patterns, and intricate accessories represented various figures from Greek mythology.

After a brief intermission, we finally arrived at the most anticipated part of the night, it was time to dance! With an immaculate DJ and an extraordinary cohort, what more could anyone ask for? Everyone jumped, swayed, and danced the night away.

It was the perfect way to close a memorable academic year, with great company, a touch of waltz, and endless joy on the dance floor.
