Third MSC meeting this year and it seems to be that all departments are doing their jobs effectively and promptly, which means another fairly unexciting MUSA DID WHAT article from MONGA.
EMS and Budget Approval Delays, Explained
Monash is currently in the process of restructuring their administrative systems, specifically policies regarding fund applications and EMS submissions which explains why you’re still waiting on your event’s EMS to be approved. It’s been a busy few weeks for our President Shoan and our Finance Directors, Jananee and Bakhtawar considering that meetings with Student Life are in full swing. These administrative changes have been communicated to all relevant departments.
The Finance Directors have also reminded all departments to comply strictly to these policies and deliberate misuse of funds or a lack of compliance will potentially result in harsher restrictions towards future funding.
Activities Department’s Antics
There has been a flurry of events coming from the MUSA Activities department, spearheaded by Kelvin and Hillary, lately. The very first event, and perhaps the most notable one being the semester 1 orientation. The Activities department reported a smooth operation throughout the entire orientation session without major errors. Evidently, a clearer understanding of the specific roles and responsibilities of volunteers could be beneficial moving forward. On a personal note, crowd control proved to be somewhat of a missing aspect during the orientation and could potentially be improved on to avoid congestion at parts of the campus where events were taking place.
Merchandise Coming Soon
Pre-production planning and designs are completed and orders were placed on week 2 of this semester. The Publicity department, led by Jessy Cheung, plans to release the order form during the mid-semester break.
Events in Planning
Most of the MUSA departments are events-based which means the student body should expect a full calendar of events ahead of them. The annual TEDx event by the Vice Presidents, Bryan and James, are in the early stages of planning. MUISS, led by Farrel and Ibrahim, began planning One World and Monash Cultural Night. The SASS team is planning a career workshop with the leadership of Aik and Shereena, the SASS representatives. The Sports Carnival, a collaborative effort between SOB, SOIT, and SOS, is going to be held on the 5th of April and most event planning has already been done.
Perhaps not so exciting news is an indication that MUSA is on a roll!
