The second semester of the year is naturally to be more energetic and uplifting, MUSA has many events planned out and the campus environment– amidst orientation– follows suit.
Precursor to Exercising Democracy
Preparations for the Annual MUSA Elections have begun with the Election Blueprint drafted and approved by all relevant parties. Previous regulations for nominations are still being adhered to with the exception of one new eligibility criteria– as quoted below– being added to the nomination requirements.
“Any individual who has previously triggered a vote of no confidence, or who has been dismissed via an MSC vote following three (3) official warning letters, shall be prohibited from running in the MUSA 2025 Annual Election.”
The Returning Officer position remains vacant. However, the Deputy Returning Officer has been endorsed and appointed by all MSC members with a unanimous decision.
Who’s Doing What?
As mentioned, many events are to be organised, attended, and de-briefed. Event planning is in the works in MUISS with Jom KL, International Games Night, and a brand new event, Monash Glow, in its preparation stages. The activities division is putting all their attention to the Merdeka Run, a charity based marathon. Many school-centric events are also being organised by the school representatives and are expected to be received well by the student body.
Spirit Week and SASS Reps’ Solitary Struggle
The biannual spirit week, normally held at the beginning of each semester, is now an independently run event by the SASS representatives after all remaining six schools have pulled out funding and participation. However, expect no less than before since everyone is able to participate.
The semester break was nice and perhaps too much of rot and ponder has taken place but Moodle has now thrusted itself back into our lives and we live with the consequence of forgetting to complete pre-class work.
