The ecstatic SASS committee welcomed attendees at the entrance, showering them with compliments and warm well wishes. Stepping inside, guests were greeted by a cozy, dreamlike space—dim lighting, a beautifully projected display of the evening’s theme, Tinkers Tavern, in an enchanting fantasy design, fairy lights intertwined with floral decorations, and bean bags arranged behind a large blue mat. Tables invited participants to create their own jewellery, play cards, or receive intricate henna tattoos.

The night’s success was not only a result of the committee’s meticulous planning, but also their excellent choice of film. After a moment of suspense, the big reveal – How To Train Your Dragon, was met with excitement.

The bustling crowd soon settled into comfy couches and black bean bags, perfectly positioned to enjoy the movie projection. Snacks of Twisties and Super Rings, paired with Sprite and Coke, made the experience all the more enjoyable. Meanwhile, others explored the activity booths, mingling, taking photos and capturing memories with friends. Photographers moved through the crowd, seeking out the best-dressed attendees – those who looked as though they had stepped out of a fairytale – as well as friend groups and organisers, all while attempting the near-impossible task of capturing the entire evening.
The crochet booth stood out as the most tranquil corner of the event. Focused silence filled the space, as hands moved with careful precision, forming uniform knots in a rhythmic, almost mirrored motion. Nearby, the beading table offered a contrasting energy – lively conversations and laughter accompanied the creation of colourful jewellery from an array of vibrant beads. Both stations, however, faced a small challenge of insufficient lighting from the decorative lamps, which was quickly and cleverly resolved by committee members using their phone flashlights.

Proud smiles spread across the faces of the organisers as they observed the cheerful crowd, visibly unwinding and enjoying themselves. Months of planning had finally come to life in the form of a successful de-stress event.
As with all good things, the evening eventually came to an end. At the designated closing time, guests began to wrap up their activities, carrying with them memories of a night well spent.
Well-paced. Dreamy. Joyful.
