Once again, hello hello! How are we hanging on to Week 7? 8? Ah yes, Week 8. Days start to look the same, struggles are starting to get repetitive, why is Mid-Sem break still so far away? (̶W̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶p̶o̶i̶n̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶r̶e̶a̶k̶ ̶a̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶e̶n̶d̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶e̶m̶e̶s̶t̶e̶r̶?̶)̶ ̶ Anyways, guess we should just be glad we’re getting a break at all.
Monash Student Council (MSC) #9 is back (Yes, again. Yes, there’s just so much to discuss :)) Let’s get right into it!
F̶i̶n̶a̶l̶l̶y̶,̶ ̶s̶o̶m̶e̶ ̶g̶o̶o̶d̶ ̶f̶*̶c̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶f̶o̶o̶d̶!̶ ̶I mean, Good F*cking News!
MUSA has confirmed that Monash Malaysia is in preparation to resume campus operations around October. (MUSA actually delivering beneficial news for once? 😲)
Upon the decision made by the Campus Operations team, the release of specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the period of campus reopening will be released at a later date.
Not only that, classes will be in hybrid mode, based on the decision of the Chief Examiner of the unit, staff and student availability (Some of us are out of state, out of the country too.)
Students coming in for the October Intake 2021 will have ONLINE classes, hence the orientation events will be held online, as per usual.
However, for on-campus activities, there is no confirmation from the Campus Operations team whether it can be resumed (Example: Club activities, Competitions). BUT in any case of smaller potential student events, MUSA bodies are expected to prepare SOPs nonetheless.
Money Talks?
It is confirmed that there will be no change in fees for Semester 1, 2022, hurrah! A fixed price is better than a price increase, although it’s not a reduction. Count your tiny blessings, they say.
Not only that, the Monash Hardship Grant has been discontinued but the Student Support Department offers help to students who are in need of financial aid subject to case to case basis.
Upon discussion with Student Life and Supports, the method of Financial Support will be different from the Monash Hardship Grant. Students who face extenuating circumstances can contact mum.student.support@monash.edu.
There is no fixed criteria for students who are in need when asking for support so we urge you to apply if you require assistance!
Merch, Merch, Merch!
More good news? How rare!
The production of Monash Malaysia merch is underway which means we will soon be donning our new Monash 2021 Hoodies, if all goes well 🌚
We’ve heard that the launching date will be on the 8th of October, so let’s keep our eyes peeled!

We’re sure that you’ve probably seen merch from other schools as well! From the cool formal designs from School of Business to the bright colours and aesthetic designs from the School of Arts and Social Sciences, we hope you’ve done your online shopping!
An Address from the School of Science, to the School of Science
If you’ve watched the MUSA 2021 Election Debates, this was particularly brought up frequently during the School of Science Representatives debate.
There were issues regarding the lack of updates from the MUSA SOS Representatives regarding the lack of communication and updates regarding issues such as physical lab sessions and on-campus activities.
Based on the representatives in the MSC, the SOS team will pay more attention regarding the updates and information related to students pertaining to the aforementioned issues in hopes of ensuring that the faculty is notified of their concerns and that actions are continually being taken to execute physical lab activities when SOPs and logistics permit.
To the SOS students reading, do remember to make sure if this is held true and reach out to your school representatives if you have any doubts!
On a last note..
Well, that is all from us! Nothing too long and windy, it’s hell week, who has time for that? Go back to watching your missed out lecture videos or to your game of CS:GO, whichever suits you best.
Till the next MSC!
